Dog & Cat Vaccination Schedule

Vaccines are one of the most effective things you can do for your pet's health, and one of the easiest to get wrong on timing. Here's what we recommend, and why the schedule matters more than the individual shot.

Puppies
  • First shots at 6–8 weeks, boosters every 3–4 weeks until 16 weeks
  • Core protection: distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis, rabies
  • The gaps between doses aren't arbitrary — a puppy's early antibodies (passed from the mother) can block a vaccine from working, which is why the booster series can't be shortened or skipped
Kittens
  • First shots at 6–8 weeks, boosters every 3–4 weeks until 16 weeks
  • Core protection: feline panleukopenia, calicivirus, herpesvirus, rabies
Adult dogs & cats
  • Annual boosters, rabies per KVB and local requirement
  • In Mombasa specifically, higher humidity and closer contact with stray animals raise your pet's exposure — we'd advise against stretching the interval here, even if your pet mostly stays indoors
What to expect at the appointment

Mild tiredness or a tender spot for a day afterward is normal. Vomiting, facial swelling, or sudden weakness is not — if you see any of those, call us straightaway.
