Grooming Tips: Start with a 6-Point Pet Care Check
Every grooming session at Isapet Vet Clinic begins with a careful visual and physical screening of your pet. This ensures that nothing looks or feels out of the ordinary before we start. Here’s our simple 6-point Pet Care Check that every pet owner can follow at home:
1. Eyes
Your pet’s eyes should be bright, clear, and alert. Watch for any redness, cloudiness, or discharge.
2. Ears
Check that the ears are clean and odorless. Any unusual smell or buildup could indicate an infection.
3. Teeth and Mouth
Healthy teeth are clean, shiny, and free from cracks or broken areas. Fresh breath is always a good sign, but bad odor may signal dental issues.
4. Nose
A healthy nose is moist and free from cracks. Dry, cracked, or excessively runny noses may need a closer look.
5. Skin and Coat
Your pet’s coat should be shiny, healthy, and free from mats. The skin underneath should be smooth, without bumps, rashes, or irritation.
6. Nails and Pads
Check that nails are healthy and shiny, and pads are moist and uncracked. Overgrown nails can cause discomfort, and cracked pads may need extra care.
Important Note
The 6-point Pet Care Check is a great way to monitor your pet’s health between visits, but it is not a substitute for regular examinations and care from a licensed veterinarian.
